Creativity and efficiency, in many ways, are like oil and vinegar. We force the two liquids to be together to make our salad taste better. Oil is lighter, less dense than vinegar. They naturally separate. Oil on top; vinegar on bottom. Compared to creativity, efficiency is like vinegar. The less digression the better; compress each step to its essentials. Creativity encourages digression; decompress each step to accomplish something new. I guess they work hand in hand. The reason I talk about this as if I fell upon something incredible is that I often feel the two are at each others throats. Maybe that's just words that go back and forth to try each other in check. I don't know.
I think of when I was so-called creative. I think I am less so now, so I often wonder about what that was so I can get back to it. It's silly to dream about the past longingly, I know. Let's talk about it anyway. I was lazy. No hurry to do anything, homework..anything. Sometimes I would just sit and think with no end in sight while doing it. But then there came discipline, and I did my homework grudgingly, knowing there was a need to do well. I became good enough to be competitive with projects, try and out-do others. The grade was a focus now. Now, I just slack again. Sometimes I feel childish for doing so. Like I should discipline myself. Then I think "Oh, I already tried that." See how I'm going nowhere? Were I disciplined would I be going anywhere. In some people's minds, yes. This paragraph is an example of an undisciplined writing style. I highly recommend it. See? Cheap laughs, too. I tell you it's horrible!
Back to the salad dressing thing. Maybe we should all be like salad dressing. A bit of creativity and efficiency all in one. But wait? Isn't that what makes up our daily intake of TV and products. So if those things are already there, then we all are salad dressing right now. (My salad dressing comedy has dried up).
Another thing, since we're off oil and vinegar, I always try to out-fox people, trying to think what there thinking. I'm thinking that is so pathetic...
What else should I talk about then?
In case you're thinking, "Wow, this guy makes sense," thanks for thinking that. You can also think, "Wow, this guy's in a drunken depression," but then I'd have to inform you that I haven't had a cider yet and tell you to stop foreshadowing my life for me.
